Offshore Wind

As the offshore wind segment rapidly expands in U.S. waters, the need for comprehensive preparedness and response planning is becoming increasingly important. With a growing number of wind farms proposed, under development, or anticipated in the coming years, offshore wind projects are initially concentrating along the East Coast, with expansion likely in the Gulf of Mexico and along the West Coast. Companies developing offshore wind infrastructure need to ensure they have response plans in place for potential incidents, whether related to construction, turbine operations, or maintenance activities.

MPA membership provides offshore wind operators with the ability to cite MSRC as their designated response organization in relevant contingency plans.

This includes response plans filed with regulatory agencies like the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), as well as with state-specific agencies when required. This ensures that offshore wind operators are prepared for environmental protection and compliance across all jurisdictions.

While MPA has historically served the offshore oil and gas sector, its expanding support for the offshore wind industry reflects its commitment to adapting to emerging energy sources. By partnering with MSRC, offshore wind operators gain access to advanced response resources and expertise, strengthening their preparedness and helping protect both coastal ecosystems and offshore infrastructure.
